Foundation
Eduard Schierle founds Schierle Stahlrohre in Düsseldorf. Steel and stainless tubes, cylinder tubes and piston rods become the cornerstone.
- 21989
Two beginnings
Erwin Schierle takes the helm and expands the family business internationally. In the same year, Ferrotrade International is established in Johannesburg.

South Africa
Erwin Schierle brings Ferrotrade into the Schierle Group. Chrome bar and cylinder tube stock for the local market follows in January 2017.

Siyaya begins
Schierle Siyaya GmbH is established on an asset deal with Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel, adding stainless steel and one of the largest stocks in Europe.
The story behind Schierle.
Ferrotrade International (Pty) Ltd is the South African trading and distribution company of the Schierle Group, delivering premium hydraulic steel solutions to the mining, earthmoving, manufacturing and engineering sectors across Africa.
Schierle Stahlrohre GmbH & Co. KG was founded in Düsseldorf in 1955 by Eduard Schierle, and made its name nationally and internationally as a reliable, flexible supplier through the trade, processing and refining of steel and stainless steel tubes, cylinder tubes and piston rods.
Erwin Schierle’s long affection for South Africa is why the group has a footprint here at all. Ferrotrade was acquired so that chrome bar and cylinder tubes could be stocked for the local market, and supply began in January 2017.
In 2025 the establishment of Schierle Siyaya GmbH extended the group into stainless steel. It is more than a new brand: it rests on an asset deal with the German trader Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel in Düsseldorf, bringing over a decade of know-how, a supplier network and one of the largest stainless stocks in Europe.
